Maus
loopylow :

I picked up Maus for a very reasonable price used. It is a famous graphic novel that I have heard about since the 80\'s. It is the story of Vladek Spiegelman and the horrors he faced under the Nazis as told to his son Art. It is a compelling and sad tale that reflects what happened from the inside. The only disappointment I had was it has a part 2, which I have not purchased yet.

phliKtid :

having been pretty into comics from the late 80's to early/mid 90's, i was very aware of the significance of _maus_. (it was one of the early "adult" comics, or "graphic novels", to catch the general public's eye.) but somehow i never got around to reading it. i can now say i see how it received the many accolades it has. it's in black and white, and the artwork is fairly minimalist and simplistic, but the story is gripping and well told and the artwork compliments it well. i highly recommend reading this. not only will it give you knowledge of an important work in the comics medium, it will also tell you an important and moving story.
